Herman Roth was a graduate of Ohio State University and drove to California in a model T in the 1920s that was an epic adventure. The landscapes left an impression on this young lawyer. After World War II he moved his wife Myrtle and son Frederick to Burbank California.
Growing up in Burbank, Ca. Fred was a car nut from an early age . He poured over car magazines and worked at gas stations. He had 2 cars before he was of legal driving age and hung out with his neighbor who taught him how to work on them . He cruised Bobs Big Boy and went to John Boroughs High graduating in 1955.
Fred took to heart an article he read in Floyd Clymer 's magazine that you could drive your hudson during the week and race for money on the weekends. He was a drummer in the band and he marched to his own beat. That included an absolute obsession for Hudson. He owned over 23 Hudson's in his life including a '52 Hollywood that he met his wife Deanna at UCSB and married in 1960.
The incredible teamwork of Fred and Deanna was on full display in their car collecting hobby. They would spend hours fixing, driving and showing their cars al over southern California. Deanna provided the vision for collecting 1950s American Sports Cars a theme inspired by the Hudson Italia . They incorporated their children Chris and Lisa into the hobby with love and a caring touch.
Fred and Deanna joined, started, and ran several car clubs events. This included being the driving force behind the Thousand Oaks Car Classic for several years. They inspired and shared their love for all things automotive with a wide array of enthusiast. The pinnacle of their car hobby was attending multiple car shows such as Palos Verdes, Muckenthaler, Amelia Island and Pebble Beach Councours.
The Roth's passion for collecting is bolstered by their keen eye for detail, networking, and can do attitude. They enjoy the process of bringing the past to life whether it was cars, music machines, carousel art, radios, arcade games, furniture, and many more. Fred, Deanna, and Lisa are no longer with us, but their spirit lives inside us every day.
Randy James Barker had been wonderful in his support of the collection. He has spent many a weekend with his uncle turning wrenches and prepping a car for show. He lives on in his Mom Lisa's Loving legacy.
Michelle Karen Roth is the engine that make the family run. She has a passion for Porsche and her family history of owning cars includes Mercedes, Volvo, and Volkswagen.
